Milk &
Honey
In biblical times, the "Land of Milk and Honey" was a promised paradise where all ones needs were anticipated and met. This nourishment, once fed to babies, can still fill an adult with yearning for a more perfect time. In these works, milk and honey are both medium and message. Painting "blind" with breast and cow's milk on paper at first, it's later heated to reveal the image like a secret from the past. Beeswax is then layered over the images to preserve them for the future. Time also plays a role in these pieces as the materials go through subtle changes in color and intensity.
